“There’s nothing more satisfying about being a photographer than seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces as they see themselves and their loved ones in a beautiful portrait that marvelously displays personality, passion, intimacy, and emotion. Knowing I’ve helped someone capture a moment in time they will forever cherish, I consider an honor and privilege as a photographer. Quite honestly, sometimes I cannot believe I have been blessed with such an opportunity to be a small part of such wonderful moments.” Tassie Winters

A "Taste of Italy"

Headliner: We are currently booking weddings into

OCTOBER OF 2011!!

Dnt Photography’s spring schedule is well underway. Last week, we booked three new brides and countless high school seniors. Baby bumps and infant sessions are abundant and I am having a BLAST working with so many different people and helping so many families, who are in various life stages, capture their moments through the gift of photography.

Many of you may or may not know that we also offer photography for preschools. This is ALWAYS a fun event personally for me as it gives me an opportunity to work with kids and be a big ole kid myself. Our preschool shoots all have a theme, that both engages and entertains the kids and provides a great deal of entertainment for me behind my camera lense too.  The themes we offer always result in really cute portraits for parents, grandparents, and extended family. In the midst of our busy week last week, I had a fun time with one of my day care clients and offered a “Taste of Italy” for the kids at their school. Little people wearing aprons and chef hats, along with spaghetti noodles made our day on location a HUGE success. I always consider my day at a school a success when I hear the children ask, “Can we do this again tomorrow?” I LOVE THAT!

A “Taste of Italy” is one of many different themes we offer. If you or any of your friends have any affiliation with a preschool or day care, please refer me to them. I’d love to help them out!

I’ll leave you tonight with, "A little spaghetti!"  It is dinner time, you know!

Have a great evening everyone and thank you for reading my blog! :)

Photography and Today's Economy - Securing the Best Return for Your Investment

In today's economy many of us, are looking to find the best deal for items we need to purchase. With four kids in our home, ranging in age from nineteen all the way down to two and a half, I am constantly looking for the best deals around town to meet the needs of our family. Thankfully, for obvious reasons, we as a family have never had to “shortchange” ourselves on our photography needs. However, many of my clients have shared stories their friends have shared with them about personal experiences when they hired a photographer based on low prices, verses quality of work.

I find it interesting that this topic more often than not, surfaces during many of my wedding consultations. It’s a valid concern for my brides that they not only receive good, quality portraits from their wedding but they want to look good in their portraits too. I mean, we all want to look good, right? Of course we do! Now, I have to say I have never seen a bride, who didn’t look absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day, but I have seen a few pictures that haven’t adequately shall we say, captured the beauty of a bride on her wedding day. Fortunately, the pictures I’ve seen of this nature, have not been taken by me, but shared with me. LOL!

What if you could find a photographer who does both; provides quality work and excellent prices. Is that possible? Maybe…As a professional photographer, the best advice I can give you to accomplish this is to consult with your wedding photographer before you contract with them, regardless of a generous or conservative wedding day photography budget. During your consultation, it’s not an unusual request to ask a photographer if you can view additional portraits from weddings they’ve helped capture. Don’t settle for what’s visible in their online portfolio, throw them a curve ball and see how they respond. Photographers who quickly offer additional portraits are displaying two important qualities; one, the photographer is open and doesn't have anything to hide from you as their potential client, and two, the photographer can quickly adapt to the needs of their clients. These two things, coupled with beautiful portfolio portraits are the qualities you as a consumer should look for in your wedding day photographer.

Wedding day photography is a continually evolving love story that unfolds before your eyes and in front of my camera’s lens. I’m very proud to say that all of my brides continue to be return clients as their lives enter new and wonderful phases. Our wedding day packages start at $450…Call today to schedule your consultation. I would LOVE to meet with you!

DNT Photography is currently booking weddings into October of 2010…Don’t wait, call today!

What's Happening at DNT?

This past Wednesday, I attended a free webinar titled Captured by the Light. Boy, are Dnt brides going to benefit tremendously from my attendance! Led by award winning photographer, David A. Ziser, the webinar provided so much information about creative lighting that I can't wait to apply some of his techniques in our upcoming weddings and shoots! He attributes his tremendous success directly to his lighting technics and let me tell you…I can for sure see why! Can you? This photo was shot by David…absolutely beautiful, and I know how to pose this shot thanks to him!!

This evening I wrapped the SCRM conference portraits. Several students at the conference took the opportunity to have their portraits taken. They came out absolutely fabulous and parents are now going crazy over them with their online purchases. The SCRMC gallery is an open gallery, so feel free to take a look around in our Client Galleries at http://www.dntphotography.us/. Here’s another one of my personal favorites from our portrait sessions.

Our calendars continue to fill with new brides, wonderful seniors, to be moms and dads, and their tiny baby boys and girls. What a wonderful thing it is to be a photographer with such a special job! I truly enjoy every aspect of photography, even the late editing nights!  Please continue to refer us to your family and friends!  Our referrals are the biggest compliments we receive from our clients!  Best wishes for a glorious weekend!  We're off to Vegas!  Looking to have a wonderful time and return with some wonderful photos!

Dnt Photography Portraits Are Officially Part of an iPhone App

I am so excited! Thank you Fallon Taylor! A few weeks ago, I had the distinct honor to photogaraph Fallon Taylor.  Fallon is an accomplished professional barrel racer as well as a professional model, and also one of the cowgirl characters on CMT's Cowboy U.  Most recently, Fallon owns and operates Dynasty Ranch where she buy and resales gorgeous horses.  As you can tell from her photo, she is absolutely beautiful! What you may not be able to tell from her photo that I can personally attest to is that Fallon is not only beautiful in appearance but has a beautiful heart of gold!

This evening I'm excited to share with all of you that Fallon has created a new iPhone application.  All of the portraits we shot at Fallon's ranch have been included in her new application.  The one you're seeing here is one of many beautiful portraits! She's also included a handy link directly to our website from the application. Beautiful!

For those of you who have an iPhone, enjoy barrel racing, or just love beautiful cowgirls, check out her app. Simply use your application search feature and search for Fallon Taylor, then download. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to Behind the Lens @ Dnt

The life of a photographer is very taxing sometimes...long nights, short days, and high pressure to make sure your camera is set and ready exactly at the right time when your most important life events happen. It's our job to make sure we're not caught in the emotion, but that we're capturing the emotion while hiding deliberately in front of you...behind our lens. :)

Welcome to Behind the Lens @ Dnt Photography! In my opinion, photography is one of the most rewarding professions available to anyone with an artistic eye who has an interest in pursuing it. Being a photographer guarantees that I'm greeted with a smile time and time again...and if that's not enough, I along with my camera, have had the honor of playing a small part in numerous weddings, several pregnancies, and how wonderful is this...I also receive baby time with some beautiful newborn babies along with those same expectant moms and dads to be out there. No one could convince me if they tried that there is a better profession…No way!

Photography provides an ocean of emotion, entertainment, opportunity, relationships, smiles, tears, anger, frustration…etc. Any emotion you can think of is a treasure to a photographer. As you can tell, I certainly enjoy my profession. Through this blog, I hope to share with each of you an inside view from the life of a photographer and the beautiful and endless world around all of us as I capture lives as they unfold Behind my Lens @ Dnt Photography.

On the Road with DNT

For those of you who have been following us on Facebook, it's no surprise to you that we have a lot going on at DNT. Weddings, Senior Portraits, Baby Bumps, and Infants; depending on the day, there's no telling where we are, where we've been, or where we're headed! Exciting times for sure!

This past weekend, we had the privilege to shoot the South Central Regional Music Conference in Monroe, Louisiana. Our days were fast and furious and filled with music, laughter, new friendships, and the renewal of some previous friendships from my childhood and (erhm) much younger years! LOL! We had such a good time, I'm certainly looking forward to another opportunity to assist this group in the coming years!~

I have several favorite photos from the conference, but one stands out from the rest in my memory. On the last day of the conference, a young lady approached our table to request a portrait with her instrument. While I had her in front of the camera, I opted for an artistic shot, coming from above her, angled down and continuing in a downward fashion toward the violin and bow. I knew the moment the shot was captured it would be one of my favorites from the convention...and I was certainly right.
